Back in the early 1980s, John was one of my favorite students at Armstrong. Later, when he returned to Armstrong as a colleague, John became a friend. He was a good man and I miss him.

I didn't have anything like the depth of of connection with John that many people writing here had. But when I was at Armstrong I would often run into him as he was bringing the mail around and I always enjoyed those brief contacts. I'm very sorry to hear about this loss.

Dear Mrs. DeLorme and family, John was never without a smile and a kind word for everyone. I have known him since I came to Armstrong in 2000 - I looked forward to his visits everyday. You truly were blessed with one of the kindest, most gentlest men I have ever known and I thank God for allowing me to be a part of John's life journey. I thank God now that John is healed completely and blessed to be one of God's heavenly angels. Thank you and may God bless all of you through these very difficult and sorrowful days. Mary Ellen

Mrs. DeLorme and family: I was a classmate of John's class at BSS. I would always see him at church when I would visit during college and he always went out of his way to speak. I then remember him at Fort Pulaski and he seemed very happy. Please know my prayers are with you all. He was a man of character.

John was simply extraordinary. I worked with John at ASU for many years. My co workers and I started an inter office campaign to have him named staff member of the year. All of us in Student Affairs believed he deserved it. He was a lovely man with a great character. He gave me a ride home once and took a route I never even knew existed! He was a lot of fun. He had a terrific sense of humor and a ready smile. John was a true gentleman. I'm so saddened to hear of this loss. My deepest condolences to John's family.

When I first came to Armstrong 13 years ago, John was a friendly face in a sea of strangers. Since he delivered the mail, he was someone I made a daily connection with, my first friend. My prayers go out for the peaceful repose of John's soul with Jesus, and for comfort to his grieving family.

Growing up with Lee, I was around the DeLorme house alot. John always had a funny comment about our teenage activities, He would run to answer the phone before anyone else and call to the person loudly about who their caller was. No need for privacy back then! LOL I will forever remember John as a wonderful witty guy who was passionate about his family, jobs, and the community. You are all in my prayers. With love, the Cummings Family
